Ivan Garzon

Bassist/Singer/Songwriter Ivan Garzon started singing at the young age of 10.  interested in music as a child, he cites influences such as Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Sade, Bob Marley, Tarrence Trent Darby, Prince, and the Soul, Jazz, 80's, African, and Indian music he grew up listening to.  Joining his first band in 12th grade, Ivan would eventually come to play and tour with Citizen X, opening for many reggae bands and immersing himself into the reggae genre.  Putting performing aside to focus on schooling, he aquired his Associate degree for general education from Grossmont community college.  He would continue his music education by transfering to Cal Arts University in 1997.  During his time based in Los Angeles, Ivan formed the roots reggae group Rub A Dub featuring fellow Cal Arts students and received his BA in Fine Arts.  After aquiring his degree, Ivan relocated to San Diego where he has recorded and performed with several local projects (Spaceman Spiff, The PHD's) prior to The Devastators.  Ivan is equally at home as a bassist and singer in a variety of genre's, most notably reggae, jazz, funk, soul, and r&b.
